Tattoo Removal

Category Tattoo Removal

Tattoos are made up of thousands of tiny ink particles embedded in the skin. The tattoo is exposed to high-powered laser energy, which is absorbed by the tattoo ink. This causes a shock wave to circulate across the dermis, fragmenting the tattoo ink, which is then cleared by macrophages.

Procedure

  • The tattoo is treated with a laser, which produces a popping sound due to the photoacoustic effect of the laser.
  • The subsequent whitening of the lesion is the laser's endpoint. Bleeding and blistering can occur at higher fluences.
  • If necessary, the R20 or R0 Methods may be used.
